Only thought
In the “Pala of Brera” of Piero della Francesca the space is established by the Renaissance architecture, represented by a Greek cross, with barrel coffered vaults and with a cupola in the centre. The main geometrical figure is the circle. The egg which has always stood for the symbol of birth becomes the fulcrum of the geometric perfection and meaning of the centre of the balance. In the Pierfranciscan pala the group underneath represents a moment of Christian adoration, by historical characters of the period, all around the lady on the throne, whose face reflects the geometric shape of the egg.
If I were only thought, I would be as light as the sphere which, without gravity, rises from the ground.
I would be the reflection of another sphere, centre of the space, which is the bright projection of my own sphere.
If I were only thought I would be the water in another sphere again, which becomes cradle of two flowers of life.
I would be a hand which, gathering the colours on a palette, paints on a canvas… window onto a cosmos where I could enter and lose myself forever.
If I were only thought, I would be the other hand which writes harmony notes of a never-ending symphony and completes ancient books with new knowledge.
If I were only thought I would be eternal smile and quiet eyes of infinite tranquillity.
If I were only thought I would be free…
